We have launched a research project titled „Integration of storage facility built with battery cells of various parameters into the electricity system”.
Parallel to the wider use of renewable energy source-based, weather-dependent energy producing units, there is an increasing demand for available control capacities. One of the most important goals of the continuous development of ALTEO Control Center is to give quantitative and qualitative answers to the ever-increasing control demands in the electricity system.
One form of developments is the implementation of battery energy storage facilities. We have realized the first 6 MW energy storage facility of ALTEO Group in Budapest, in the site of Zugló Heating Power Plant, in 2018. As part of the current project, we are building our second energy storage facility in the site of Kazincbarcika Heating Power Plant with a 5 MW capacity.
The design of the Kazincbarcika battery energy storage facility differs from currently operating standard market solutions. The investment is unique in that in addition to high performance batteries optimized for energy storage facilities, batteries produced for e-cars are also built into the system.
