The Executive Board consists of 8 members and is responsible for operational management. The Executive Board’s responsibilities include the operational management of ALTEO Group on the basis of the implementation of the strategy, cost-effective operation, provision of high-quality services, creating the conditions for health and safety at work and the protection of the environment, while ensuring compliance with existing legislation.

The rules of ALTEO Group’s Integrated Management System state that the CEO calls for a management review once a year for executives to verify and assess whether the above requirements have been met and identify further development opportunities. As part of the review, management follows up on the fulfilment of the tasks set in the Quality, Energy and EBK goals and programmes and, if necessary, sets new tasks.

Attila Chikán Jr.
Chairman of the Board

Mr. Chikan has been CEO of ALTEO Nyrt. since its foundation in 2008, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors since spring 2023. Under his leadership, ALTEO has grown to become one of Hungary’s leading energy companies.


Prior to that, he worked in various financial and investment positions. He received his degrees from the University of Economics of Budapest (now Corvinus University of Budapest) and the College of Foreign Trade (now a part of Budapest Business School).


The CEO, who is actively dedicated to sustainability issues, is the President of the Business Council for Sustainable Development of Hungary (BCSDH). He serves as a member of the Supervisory Boards of Blue Planet Climate Protection Investment Fund Management (Kék Bolygó Klímavédelmi Befektetési Alapkezelő Zrt.) and the Blue Planet Climate Protection Foundation (Kék Bolygó Klímavédelmi Alapítvány). He is Chairman of the Supervisory Board AutoWallis Nyrt., and a member of the Board of Directors at MÁV Start Zrt. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of UNICEF Hungary, a domestic representative of one of the world’s largest and longest-established child welfare organizations.


He is a member of the Board of the Sustainability Section of the Hungarian Economic Association, as well as a member of the Presidential Committee on Sustainable Development of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

As an active opinion leader on sustainability, he runs a blog under the name Chikansplanet.

Bodnár Zoltán

Bodnár Zoltán

Has been working at the Alteo Group as the Head of Finance since February 2018


Has extensive experience in international environment, previously working in similar positions in the management of Libert Global UPC, AstraZeneca, Diageo and Dreher Breweries.


Responsible for the financial, controlling and accounting operations of Alteo Group and its affiliates.


Graduated at the Budapest College of Commerce, Corvinus University and at Purdue University in the United States.

Domonkos Kovács
Deputy CEO responsible for M&A and Capital Markets
Domonkos Kovács

Mr. Kovács has been with ALTEO since April 2011.


Has more than 26 years of experience in investment analysis, acquisition and capital markets.


Graduated from the Faculty of Finance of the University of Economics of Budapest (now Corvinus University of Budapest) in 1993. After graduation he worked in the Corporate Finance Department of CAIB Értékpapír Rt. where he was involved in many IPO and acquisition advisory projects. From 1997, he was the Director heading the Corporate Finance Department at CAIB.


He was Investment Analysis Director at Wallis Zrt. from 2000 and then became Group Controlling Director in 2005. He was Director for Valuation & Modelling at the Financial Advisory Department of Deloitte Zrt. between April 2008 and March 2011.

Péter Luczay
Deputy CEO, Asset-Backed Energy Trading and Business Development
Péter Luczay

Mr. Luczay is the Director of Wholesale Energy Trading and Virtual Power Plant Management
and a Member of the Executive Board. He has been with the Group since 2012.


Awarded his MSc in Engineering and MA in Engineering Economics from the University of Miskolc and his MBA from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He also holds qualifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP)® and in D.P.H. and Risk Management (The Oxford Princeton Programme). He has a decade and a half of experience in energy system design, implementation and operation, from working for different companies engaged in multiple country activities.


Currently, he is the head of the business area responsible for the establishment, operation and development of ALTEO’s (Sinergy’s) Control Centre (Virtual Power Plant) and his responsibilities also include the product management of the company’s power plants and the successful performance of the sector in the competitive market. In addition to his managerial responsibilities, he is also working on developing and implementing an innovative operating model for the Control Centre and related energy trading activities and a comprehensive risk management programme for energy trade.

Anita Simon
Deputy CEO responsible for sustainability and circular economy

She has been working at ALTEO Group since January 2019 as Head of the Waste Management Division.


After starting her career in agriculture and the feed industry, where she gained experience in foreign trade and purchasing, she switched to the environmental industry 15 years ago.
She has extensive experience in waste management, and while her main area of expertise is the recovery and trade of organic material generated in biogas plants, she is also known as an expert of other waste streams. From 2009 to 2010, she represented Hungary in the organic waste area of FEAD in Brussels on behalf of the Association of Environmental Service Providers and Manufacturers (AESPM).


At ALTEO Group, she is responsible for sustainability and circular economy. Her key tasks include implementation of the ESG-based approach and the principles of sustainability in the business decisions of ALTEO, supporting the operation of the e-mobility division, and management of the waste management division.


She holds degrees from the Faculty of Management and Agriculture of the Szent István University and from Anglia Ruskin University.

Magdolna Tokai
Deputy CEO for Corporate Support

Magdolna Tokai has almost 20 years of professional experience, mainly in the energy sector (MOL and MVM), and has held several management positions in both Hungary and in the region.


Magdolna started her career at MOL Group, where she first held management and CEO positions in the Croatian subsidiaries, at the INA Group and then at Tifon, participated in INA’s IPO, negotiated syndicated loan agreements and also led the growth and agile transformation of Tifon.


After she left the MOL Group, she continued her career at MVM, where she served as Deputy CEO for Strategy and Business Development and was also responsible for support functions. She has headed numerous M&A (conventional, renewable power plant and infrastructure) projects; participated in strategy development and bond issuance projects. Additionally, she has also coordinated the establishment and operation of MVM Group’s first service center (SSC). She is committed to creating equal opportunities.

Viktor Varga
Deputy CEO responsible for production and risk management
Viktor Varga

Part of the ALTEO Group (Sinergy) since 2003 in various management positions, with responsibility for the energy production business division.


He started his career in the chemical industry and then gained considerable experience in the field of commissioning, operation and maintenance of power plants.


He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Kandó Kálmán Polytechnic, an MBA from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and earned his degree in Energy Management at Corvinus University.


Currently he is overseeing the economical, sustainable and safe operation of the ALTEO Group (Sinergy) portfolio facilities, managing the operation and maintenance branches (providing services to 24 establishments and leading close to 140 people).


He is responsible for maintaining the high standards of the energy services business activities and developing best practices to ensure the satisfaction of the Group’s internal and external customers.

László Hegedűs
Deputy CEO for Strategic HR and Communications

László Hegedűs has more than 20 years of professional experience, gained in the strategic and operational areas of various multinational companies. In recent years, he worked as international HR director at the Central European University, where he was tasked with enhancing HR process efficiency and HR digitalization. Previously, he spent 4 years at BlackRock, where he initially held senior management roles responsible for the company’s operations, before becoming head of the international HR team at the service center. Prior to this, he served as HR director at Aviva Biztosító, and for a while held a senior HR role for the CEE region, before also leading the HR support team for the European change management function. He then led the conversion of the HR processes and the cultural transformation of MetLife Biztosító, formed through the merger of the insurers Aviva and Ahico. Previously, he helped establish strategic-level HR operation at French-owned bank Credit Lyonnais and led the transformation of the bank’s HR function following its acquisition by Credit Agricole. As a result, over the course of 14 years in the financial sector, he has gained considerable experience in corporate acquisitions, large-scale organizational transformations and elevating the HR function to a strategic role.
He has also been involved in the go-to-market and early years company building processes of Vodafone and Morgan Stanley in Hungary, which resulted in extensive experience in HR support for the rapid growth of companies. In addition to the key HR areas, in all his positions his responsibilities included managing internal communication processes and external communication on the employer brand.
