Our first integrated report has been published which includes our sustainability report in addition to the financial results of 2018. The aim of the integrated report is to provide a comprehensive picture of our operation by presenting the most important results of our environmental and social activity beyond the key financial indicators.
As one of the representatives of impact investment in Hungary, we aim from the beginning to operate as an environmentally and socially sustainable and responsible company in addition to financial success. Hence, we have decided to – based on international trends – publish our financial results and efforts made in terms of sustainability in an integrated report this year.
Besides the financial reports, in the last two years, we have published our Sustainability report as well, which introduced the company’s non-financial results and milestones. The integrated report is supposed to replace the Sustainability report, thus fulfilling the company’s related commitment, stated in the 2016 report. The sustainability performance of the Group is presented in accordance with the new Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards framework.
2018 was defined by dynamic growth and pursuit of sustainable development. One of the milestones was that in November 2018, our first self-implemented solar power plant has started its operation in Monor. In addition to that, in 2018 15% of the total water used by ALTEO’s power stations (excluding the hydroelectric power plants) was provided from recirculated or reused water to help ensure the efficient and sustainable operation.
In every aspect of our activity, we aim to make the best use of renewable energy within the energy mix. With that in mind, we launched an R&D project, in order to develop a battery storage facility which is considered to be unique not only in Hungary but also on a regional level. The project helps the integration of weather-dependent wind and solar power plants into the company’s portfolio as well as to the Hungarian electricity network. The facility has successfully started its test run on August 23, 2018.
