Energy storage facility Kazincbarcika

ALTEO built its second, 5 MW output/5 MW capacity energy storage unit on the grounds of the Kazincbarcika Heating Power Plant, in 2021. The design of the battery energy storage unit in Kazincbarcika differed from the standard market solutions at the time. What made the project special is that in addition to batteries optimized for high-output energy storage installations, batteries manufactured for electric cars were also built into the system. The operation of the new storage system gave ALTEO the opportunity to gain relevant operational experience, in real-world conditions, regarding the alternative use of batteries produced for electric cars in the electricity system.
